HISTORY:
Launched in 2005, Three Ships Whisky Bourbon Cask Finish was the first ever 100% South African blended whisky, with both the malt and grain whiskies being distilled and matured at the James Sedgwick Distillery. Rich and golden in colour, it offers a hint of a bourbon taste profile.
CRAFTING AND MATURATION:
The grain and malt components of the whisky were distilled in column (grain) and copper potstills and after its initial three-year maturation period, the blended whisky is placed in first fill American Bourbon Casks for a further six-month marrying period.
TASTING NOTES:
Colour: Rich with a golden hue.
Nose: Delicate honeyed biscuits, vanilla and ripe fruit seamlessly blending into toasted Brazil nuts and mocha coffee with mild spice.
Palate: Soft honey with vanilla notes, buttery spicy oak, ripe pear with subtle hints of cracked black pepper and cinnamon spice.
Finish: Luscious and lingering vanilla, cracked black pepper and cinnamon combine to create a smooth, clean finish.
Alcohol content: 43% a/v
